Sex traffickers have moved online to recruit women and girls in private. So The Jensen Project made their DMs as public as possible – by writing them in the sky over US trafficking hubs. Introducing Sky Trafficking, our first ever initiative with The Jensen Project to educate on the ways traffickers thrive in private chats.
We gathered common and real trafficker DMs and wrote them in the clouds, escalating through the four stages of trafficking (Luring, Grooming, Coercion and Exploitation) from “How Old R U?”to “Leave And I’ll Find You”.
Converting the trafficker messages into paid search terms, we drove bystanders Googling what they saw in the sky toSkyTrafficking.com. On the site, visitors are educated on techniques routinely used on social media by traffickers. The first step in ending the cycle of trafficking is knowing how to spot it.
